Uk Loan Tips

The following loan tips should help if you ever get into financial difficulties. One idea is to take a debt consolidation loan; you can use this to pay off all your existing credit with one larger one; this is not the only solution and anyway you need firstly to get an approval for one. It is possible to reduce your debt and hopefully these loan tips will help.

Don't be harassed!

You should not allow yourself to be harasses in any way by a creditor or finance company. The worst that can happen is that your lender will get a judgement against you and have money taken from you on an involuntary basis. And anyway it is possible to avoid this in many cases.

Always be polite!

Even if you think you are being treated unfairly you should try not to get angry. You will only provoke an angry response which will not be helpful; you must try to get your lender to be sympathetic to your circumstances and getting angry won't help!.

Communicate!

Don't ignore letters! Communication is essential during negotiations; you should answer any correspondence immediately, if you arrange to be in contact with someone, make sure you do, if only to let them know of any delay in payment.

Keep records!

Always make a note of telephone conversations, times, dates, names etc and if possible confirm all offers in writing.

Be honest!

Don't make promises you can't keep! Tell it the way it is, there is no advantage in misleading your creditors as the truth will come out eventually!

Don't threaten to go bankrupt!

Threatening to go bankrupt is not constructive. Creditors hear threats of bankruptcy all the time and it may well cause your creditor to cease negotiations and take you to court.

Be concise.

If you are explaining your financial position be brief and don't suggest a solution that you can't keep to. Your creditor will not be interested in hearing open ended suggestions. If you do get into difficulties, after having negotiated with your creditor, don't wait until you lender gets in touch with you. If you make at least a token payment he is more likely to be sympathetic to your cause.

Consult a solicitor or the Citizens Advice Bureau.

If you are summonsed by the Court you must make sure to respond within the given time; the date will be set out in the official papers. You would be well advised to consult an organisation like the Citizens Advice Bureau, a solicitor or insolvency practitioner, about your rights and find out how you can avoid having to go to Court. If you do enter into negotiations with your creditor make sure the deadline date is postponed. It is also a good idea to get something in writing.

Free debt management.

The Citizens Advice Bureau will have an office in most areas and they are there to help (0207 8332181). You will have to fill in a form with details of your income and outgoings and they will try to help you to find ways of cutting back on your expenditure. They give free advice and support it should be your first course of action. You may be asked to give up some 'unessential' items like cigarettes so be ready! Other free debt management options are The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (0800 1381111), The Money Advice Association (0207 4891800), The National Debt Line (0645 500511), and Bankruptcy Information (01482 658701)

Loan tips Be sensible!

You will have to declare a statement of means so make it as accurate as possible; include all your expenses such as school fees,  cigarettes, TV licence etc. Lenders are usually fair, they know that you will have expenses which have to be paid before their debt. You have to see their point of view; they just want to reach an amicable arrangement by which you will be able to repay your loans.

Paid Debt Management.

There are many debt management companies; they charge a percentage of the money they save you. They negotiate with your lender on your behalf and will request that you be allowed, for example, to make 'underpayments' until such time as you have got back on your feet. Debt management companies do help but there is a chance your 'credit rating' will be affected, which will make loans harder to get in the future.

Bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy is a last resort; for more information phone is number 01482 65870.
We hope this is useful for you.
